WHY STRIPING IS IMPORTANT

Chances are if your parking lot is concrete or asphalt it’s going to need to have striping {lines, signs, arrows}. Parking lot striping is an extremely important part of any parking lot, especially in the case of retail and professional parking lots. A parking lot is a “welcome’’ mat for a business, often being the first thing potential customers and clients see on their way into the building.

Worn out or messy parking lot striping is all together uninviting, not to mention inefficient. A parking lot without lines or signage is one that is not being properly utilized in most cases. Allowing patrons and clients to park wherever, without designated stalls, can create problems, especially if the parking lot is busy and inundated with cars. At a minimum striping should be done every other year and every year after a bad winter where lines are often removed by plows.

Their are 3 main types of striping
1. New lot layout.
2. Re-stripe over existing lines.
3. Re-stripe over seal coating.

In most cases the lot must be prepared {swept} before striping and any loose paint removed from curbs and lines. This will enable the paint to stick to the prepared surface and help the longevity of it.
